In the land of broken dreams, the chess World Championship unification takes a place of honor. A recent FIDE announcement cryptically stated, 'FIDE publishes the PRESS RELEASE in respect of the Ponomariov - Kasparov Match earlier scheduled to be held in September - October 2003', with nothing more than a link to a Word document. There we find six paragraphs titled 'Re: Cancellation of the Ponomariov - Kasparov Match'. • Since we don't believe that burying bad news makes it disappear, we copied the entire press release to a Web page.
