In the United States, the results of the 2006 ChessCafe.com Grand Prix were announced in March. GM Jaan Ehlvest of New York won 1st prize with 310.65 points, ahead of GM Alexander Ivanov (CT, 216.50), and GM Aleks Wojtkiewicz (MD, 199.60). Wojtkiewicz, who won the competition during six consecutive years from 1999 to 2004, died in July 2006.

Of the many events whose results are used to calculate Grand Prix points, a few offer the symbolic figure of 100 points or more. The events that reached this level in 2007 are listed in the following table by the date of each event's final round.

The events marked '(N)' are National Events, co-sponsored by the USCF. Ehlvest won the U.S. Masters (Hendersonville, NC) with 7.5/9, a full point ahead of three runners-up. Hikaru Nakamura won the 6-round National Open (Las Vegas, NV) with 5.5/6, a half-point ahead of six other players. Boris Gulko won the U.S. Open (Cherry Hill, NJ) on tiebreak over seven players, all finishing with 7.5/9.
